Anna Smirnova (mezzo-soprano), Russia

Was born on July 24, 1982 in the city of Perm. She Graduated from Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory(Dept. of Academic singing, class of the People's Artist of Russia, Professor Zaliznyak S.V.). Anna studied chamber concert singing with assistant professor K. Rodionova. During her years at the conservatory Anna has participated in multiple concerts, festivals and competitions.

Anna has won the first prize of the conservatory competition on the 60 th anniversary of the WWII Victory (Ekaterinburg). She is also the winner of the First Prize for vocalists «IBLA Grand Prize» (Ragusa, Italy). Anna is twice the winner of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Scholarship Award for special achievements in teaching and artistry. Currently enrolled in the graduate school of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in the class of the People's Artist of the USSR professor I.P. Bogacheva.

Anna is a soloist at the musical theater «Zazerkal’ye».

Anna Smirnova has a naturally rare voice – coloratura mezzo-soprano. The range of her voice is impressive: from low octave F to D in the third. Strong, powerful and remarkably beautiful timbre of her voice shines in the parts of Rosina («Barber of Seville» by Rossini), Isabella («L'Italiana in Algeri» by Rossini). Anna handles these difficult passages with virtuoso skill. With great professionalism and stage experience, she impresses not only as a singer but also as a professional actress. Anna actively participates in international competitions and master classes.
